A little backstory.

Last year I released the first ever Focal Point straps. It started as fun personal project: a minimal leather strap I’d actually want on my own camera. I didn’t initially consider how many people would want one as well.

The response was brilliant, a few hundred straps went out to photographers all over the world, and seeing them pop up on Leicas, Fujis and Ricohs on my feed has been one of my favourite parts of this whole thing.

So, we’re the straps are back for another release.

This year’s lineup.

There are three to choose from:

  • The Signature Black Short Strap (70cm)

  • The Signature Black Strap, Crossbody Version (100cm)

  • The Navy Special Edition Short Strap (70cm)

The Signature Black:

This is the everyday, signature Focal Point strap. It’s made from Horween Dublin leather, with black stitching, black rivets and an embossed logo. It only gets better the more you use it.

It comes in two lengths this year: the 70cm short strap if you like your camera close, or the new 100cm if you want to wear it across your body.

The Navy Special Edition:

This one’s a bit different. It’s deep navy A&A Crack Hunter leather, with white stitching and a silver foil logo. Last year we did the dark green and gold, and I loved it. But this one might be even cooler…

It’s the same short, lightweight strap with a bit more character. Once this run is gone, it won’t be made again.

Now made in the UK

Last year’s straps were made in Germany. This year I wanted to bring production closer to home, so every strap in this run is handmade here in the UK.

Doing it as a pre-order means we only make what’s actually ordered. There’s no warehouse full of stock and no waste, just straps made for the people who want them.

Small tweaks, based on your feedback

I read every message and review from last year’s drop. Most of you were really happy, but a few of you had ideas. So this run is all about the 1% improvements:

  • The rivet has moved. On some M bodies, the old rivet would rub against the ISO dial. It’s not a big deal, but it now sits higher and out of the way.

  • There’s a longer option. I personally love the short strap, but lots of you wanted a crossbody. So there’s now a 100cm version too.

  • The stitching is even more subtle. On one or two straps last year, the edge stitching would catch or fray a little. Nobody’s strap came apart, but this time the stitching runs through the middle of the leather. It’s cleaner and just as strong.

We didn’t change anything dramatically. We just made it a little bit better.
